Homecoming Game Overview

Welcome back to another great year at Rutherford High School! The homecoming game welcomed all returning students as well as RHS alums for an exciting and captivating day of football and entertainment.

As students marched from the school to Tryon field, singing along to the band chants, families and supporters of the school lined the streets, eager to be a part of the excitement. The parade was led by our talented marching band, who animated the crowd and set the tone for the day. Their halftime performance of hit pop songs highlighted their senior, Russel Gomez, and had the entire Dog Pound on their feet, singing along. This performance was led by drum major, Stacey Shang, and assistant drum major, Tristan Ramac.

In the main event, the football game, the Rutherford Bulldogs took an impressive lead 10 seconds into the first half. Kyle Russel (senior) threw a pass to Justin Finelli (senior), who ran 45 yards for the touchdown. Later, Russel intercepted a Glen Rock pass and handed it off to Johnny Mendez (senior) who rushed in for another touchdown. At the end of the first quarter, the Bulldogs held a 20-0 lead over the Glen Rock Panthers. By the end of the half, the Bulldogs were up 27-7.

The Rutherford Bulldog Cheerleaders had a stellar performance as they honored their seniors and welcomed the talent of their new freshman. Senior Captain, Caroline Marron, was overjoyed with the team’s success and is enthusiastic about the season. Caroline also shared the spotlight with Maggie Laskey, Emma Sousa, Caroline Mierzwa, and Destinee Almodovar during the senior day festivities.

The boys scored two more touchdowns in the second half and Rutherford won the game 40-7. Homecomers gathered and met with old friends as the Bulldogs lead us to another victory. It was a successful senior day and homecoming game in every aspect.
