As RHS enters the next chapter in its history, new faces are appearing around every corner — setting the scene for budding relationships to bloom.
One of them is Ms. Liebeskind, one of RHS’s many knowledgeable guidance counselors, who originally joined the Rutherford School District in 2013. So, to document her arrival to RHS, I recently asked her a couple of questions so students here could get to know her better.
What led you to come back to the area near where you grew up?
My grandparent passed while I was working in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I absolutely loved my job and did not want to leave, but I missed my family. I chose to move back to be closer to the rest of my living grandparents and spend time with them.
Where did you work before and how does it differ from your new position?
I worked at the Methacton School District in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Passaic, Pierrepont, and Union. I also worked as a homeless student counselor in New York City. I always worked in elementary and middle schools! My internship when I was a student at University of Pennsylvania was at Maple Shade High School in South Jersey. Helping high school students is really fun and rewarding!

Why did you choose to come to RHS?
I was told the counseling department could use more help and needed an additional counselor, and that my experience was such that I would be helpful and successful at the high school. I am delighted to join such an awesome department and I am enjoying growing my skill set.
What do you hope to accomplish at RHS?
I hope to get to know my caseload of students well, learn the curriculum, and get to know the personalities of both students and staff. My goal is to be a “post secondary matchmaker.” I am excited to learn more about college, high school requirements, and options for after our students are done with their time here.

Anything else you’d like to say to the students?
Thanks for being so welcoming and awesome to work with! I have loved seeing families and students I have known since they were little blossom into young adults!
We can’t wait to make new memories together and see what the rest of the year has in store! From all of us at RHS, welcome Ms. Liebeskind into the RHS family!
