RHS Students Donate “Boxes of Kindness” to Schools in Need

Rutherford High School students and members of the National Honors Society contributed to the Box of Kindness collection by putting together boxes filled with gifts and necessities during the holidays for students at elementary and middle schools around the area.

With Mrs. Lancaster, Ms. DeLia, and the National Honors Society, RHS students and clubs put together gift boxes to send to students who are less fortunate and unable to afford certain necessities and toys during the holiday season. Including the National Honors Society, Future Healers, and other clubs, these students gathered to fill dozens of shoe boxes with items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, hats, gloves, and other everyday care items. Additionally, each box was filled with toys and goodies such as coloring items, fidget toys, nail polish, sports cards, and other items.

Since 2018, the Box of Kindness collection has been a way for RHS students and community members to gather and give to others during the holidays. The collection is a way for NHS members and students to give younger students the opportunity to receive gifts and toys that they might not be available to. Not only this, but each box brings a smile to a child’s face, contributing to the joy of giving back to the community. NHS gathered and individually stuffed and wrapped shoeboxes with these items to send to students in other neighboring districts.
