The Louvre Museum in Paris has a new Head of Crisis. Christophe Leribault was appointed as the next Head of Crisis in place of Laurence Des Cars. The ex-Head of Crisis, who quit four months after admitting a failure to do her job from the robbery of Apollo’s Gallery back in October of 2025. On February 23rd, Laurence Des Cars resigned, telling Macron “Despite our hard work, we failed.”
Another reason as to why Des Cars quit was because of the criticism she faced from the public, because of the robbery and the fact they couldn’t identify who the robbers were. “Des Cars had faced intense criticism since burglars made off in October with jewels worth an estimated $102m” reported The Guardian.

Right before she quit, Laurence Des Cars spoke about the poor quality of the cameras, along with a functioning issue with the cameras within the Louvre being unable to catch the faces of the robbers. Not long after, Christophe Leribault was hired as her permanent replacement.
Looking into the near future, when Christophe Leribault takes over as Head of Crisis at the Louvre, he will likely start upgrading security to ensure another robbery does not occur like the one back in October of 2025. He would also likely work on regaining the trust of the people that the Louvre will not get robbed again, and to trust in his ability as the new Head of Crisis.
